Water sharing requires relying on the reference of international law and European agreements regarding the sharing of transboundary river water to ensure the interests of Iraq and mobilize more efforts on the basis of creating incentives and inducements that push towards a realistic and sustainable
agreementRelying on numerous international agreements regulating the use of transboundary river waters, such as the agreements on the use of the waters of the Danube and Rhine rivers in Europe. These agreements ensure the exploitation of water on the basis of coordination between the various parties away from other conflicts and the terms of reference of international law should form the basis for any future agreement, especially since dozens of countries around the world have relied on them in successful water agreements. The most recent of these references is the Convention on the Law of the Non-navigational Uses of International Watercourses, which was adopted by the United Nations and entered into force in 2014 after 35 countries ratified it.
